What did the colonists do because of the sugar act?

Once the Sugar act was passed (1764) the colonists threw lots of smaller rebellions. Although this was not very effective, it did get the Parliament's attention. So, the colonist began a major protest which many colonies got into. They stopped using british imports all together! So now the tax was of absolutely no use to Britian. Parliament repealed the act.
