I believe this idea came from the French but I could be wrong. If you eat slow instead of trying to rush through your dinner, you will not eat as much and not fell as hungry. Take only three bites then set your silverware down and wait to take more bites. Let the food settle to your stomach. It takes seven minutes for food to get to the stomach. That is why people feel bloated after meals, because all the food is still in the throat. If you wait between bites it allows the food to go down the throat smoothly instead of all at once. Doing this will also not make you feel as hungry between meals.
Another reason I've heard why people become hungry is because they are bored and eating is something they like to do. When you feel hungry try to find an activity to do instead of eat. Eat a full course breakfast, a reasonable lunch, and a smaller dinner. If you do not eat after 6pm it will also help you to lose weight while you sleep. Just fight the urge to have a midnight snack. If you cannot handle the temptation, then be sure to snack on something healthy (fruits and veggies are great).
This is a therory I think I learned in science class years ago. Your stomach is only as big as your fist. Your stomach holds food for 4 hours. Don't eat too much food that will overfill your stomach and don't eat meals closer than four hours apart.
If you try these ideas and just stick with it your stomach will slowly not feel as hungry. You will notice after a while that you will not eat as much at every meal because you will not feel as hungry.
