Are cut flowers living or non living?

Pressed flowers are non living plants that once were living. They're removed from the medium in which they're growing. Their stems may be severed from their roots. But rootless or not, they no longer have the opportunity to take in the water and dissolved nutrients that they need for life sustaining activities. They therefore die.
