What is Selecting Images in Photoshop?

press W for the magic wand, if you don't see a wand in CS2+ right click on the tool that's selected and than make it the magic wand.

or

L for lassoo , I use the one where you do it manually (theres 3 kinds)

or

ctrl + A (select all)

those are your three options without going into layers or colors.
