Yes there were Fords, Pontaic etc.

The first production car was made in 1889 by Karl Benz of Germany and little later came the Stanley Steamer ( this is the same man who built the famous Stanley Hotel in CO) a car that ran on steam. By 1908 Ford was producing cars for the American Market. WW2 happened in 1939 so by this time there were many car companies producing cars in the United States.
Uh, Duh. There were tanks, of course there were cars. They had planes also!
