Amelia Earhart received numerous awards throughout her aviation career, including the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1928, becoming the first woman to earn this honor for her solo transatlantic flight. She was also awarded the National Geographic Society’s Gold Medal for her contributions to aviation. Additionally, she was a founding member of the Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots that continues to promote women's involvement in aviation.
