Energy drinks containing ephedra may make you test positive for stimulants as ephedra is a precursor to methamphetamine. In the United States, ephedra is illegal in over-the-coutner energy drinks and other products.

Legally available energy drinks are a mixture of sugars, B-vitamins, amino acids, and caffiene. With the exception of the caffiene, all these supplements are things your body normally needs, but not in the high doses provided in the beverage. They may make you test positive for internal metabolic disorders, but not illegal drugs.
