Why is your vauxhall astra 1.6 8v losing power?

More than likely your new alternator is a dud - check for 14.2v across the battery terminals when the engine is running. Also go over all of the wiring connections for tightness, including the battery terminals and the main earth connection to the bodyshell/ engine.
