What is the 99mTC-Medronate injection?

Clinical Use:

1) Bone imaging

a. 50% of each dose is retained in the skeleton & 50% is excreted in the urine

b. 99mTc-medronate exhibits a specific affinity for areas of altered osteogenesis

c. Deposition in the skeleton is bilaterally symmetrical, with increased accumulation in the axial structure as compared to the appendicular skeleton

d. Increased activity is seen in the distal aspects on long bones as compared to the diaphyses
