The answer is easy to fugure out, Your furnace has a fuel nozzle at the end of the burner gun. There is a size rating stamped on it indicating GPH (gallons per hour) of fuel usage. Get that # and then figure how many hours per day the furnace is actually operating and you have your answer. Or call your oil supplier and ask them how they always know when to come and deliver. They use a formula that incorporates the Degree Days method it isnt just blind luck. Or stick your tank one day and stick it again at the same time the next day and note the difference in inches. If you know configuration of your tank, (most are a standard size& style) the difference in inches between the two days can be converted to gallons.Your supplier can help you with the conversion as well. These methods will work anywhere with any size home.
