The Erie Indians no longer exist as a specific tribal unit, in 1656 after years of warfare the last Erie village was destroyed by the five tribe Iroquois Nation. The surviving Erie were absorbed by the Seneca tribe to replenish there own losses from the wars. Remaining Erie warriors are conjectured to have moved southward and comprised the tribes now known as the Black Mingua.
