How does spit form on a rocy headland?

Spit formation on a rocky headland occurs through a combination of wave action and sediment transport. As waves approach the coastline, they carry sediment and erode the land, depositing material in a process known as longshore drift. When the prevailing currents encounter a change in the coastline, such as a rocky headland, the sediment accumulates, gradually extending outwards to form a spit.
