How is the didgerdoo made?

The indigenous peoples of Australia go out and tap on the trunk of a certain tree that gets infested with termites. They cut the trunk at the base, and at the top, and pull it over the top of the branches in such a way that they have a solid conical piece of wood, and the tree lives. They remove the termites, and the tree continues to grow.

When they clean out the piece of wood, they make a mouth piece out of clay, and fire and decorate the entire thing.
