Are automatic transmissions dangerous There seems to be a lot of accidents where people loose control of cars with automatic transmissions especially whilst parking or slow speed manoevering?

Automatic transmissions are absolutely not dangerous. Any accidents not related to mechanical failure (which are very rare) are purely the drivers fault and have nothing to do with the car itself.
