Can dog get sick from eating her own poop?

Based on my personal observations over more than 50 years, it is my conclusion that the answer is NO, but ask your vet the next time you make contact. I have observed this phenomenon in my own dogs and those of neighbor and friends, and it appears there is NO negative impact on a dogs health. Oh yes, the old "snack bar!"

Generally, it won't cause death. My dogs use to do this and I had to train them not too. When I caught them (they would always have kitty litter on their nose) they were shamed and eventually it broke them of the habit. I also use a "pooper scooper" every single day to clean out the kitty litter box. I have never found a vet that could answer the question as to why some dogs will eat the feces of another dog or cat. My guess is it goes back to when they were wild.

Same here. It seems all my dogs love "Krispy Treats" as I call them. For some reason they especially love the ones coated with litter from the litter box! ( add's crunch?? LOL) I don't know why they do it, I just know it's a nasty habit that's hard to break but it certainly won't hurt them. If it did, all my dogs would be dead by their 1st birthday!
