Owl feces looks like a hair ball from a cat. When the owl eats its prey, all the waste items like bones, beaks, feathers, etc. are released in an owl pellet or feces ball. When I was teaching at an elementary school, we purchased owl pellets for each student. The students pulled the ball apart and found all the non-editible parts. They had a diagram showing the pieces needed to complete either a bird or mouse. That way they could tell what their owl had eaten. It was very interesting. There was no smell or odor. It was a little dusty when you were separating the feathers that held the pellets together. It was very fragile and you had to be very careful not to over look a tiny piece from the pellet. I hope this information will be helpful to you. Pookie
