How does the grasshopper make sure that conditions are not too hot or too cold for it?

They hatch when their eggs are warm enough for a long enough period of time in the summer. Then they die off when it gets cold enough. However they have left behind eggs for next year's crop. Grasshoppers can live anywhere that allows their full life cycle to be completed.
