Is blu tack the same as a wiyer?

What the heck is "wiyer"?!? Blu-Tack was invented in 1970 and is a trade-mark of Bostik for a non-drying re-usable putty for sticking posters on walls, removing debris from fine objects, the uses are endless. See Wikipedia.
