The subject does not lend itself to songstery! However there have been a number of songs dealing with this social problem . Methinks it should not be fare for the top charts- should not be used as a plot device for songs. Songs that hint about child abuse are more common than those that deal with it directly: Young Girl ( read the lyrics carefully), The narrator is torn between love and the reality of possible statutory rape! Little Children- seems to deal with hanky-panky among baby-sitters. On a more realistic and anti-abuse level there was the short lived and disturbing ( Mr. Jesus) which was recorded by a group called The Power Source. The child is talking to Jesus respectfully about a child abuse problem- the reasons for it are not given, but it is abuse. Hey, music is supposed to be fun, why pick up such a really Negative subject. One can stretch things and see child neglect- and ultimately suicide in the Presley song ( In the Ghetto) another weirdo song- that did quite well on the charts. It was written by Mac Davis- not Elvis.
