The actual act of blowing glass does not have to be dangerous but remember that you are working with glass that starts out hot enough to be in its liquid form (over 2000 degree F) and is best worked in the 1500 to 1700 degree F range. You also work near a furnace that is typically 2400 degree F and you anneal your piece in an oven that is 900 degrees F. Any of these items could cause severe burns. Add to that the fact that you are working with metal tools (some of which are sharp) and handling potentially heavy weight and you add another dimension of possible injury.

However, if you take care and watch what you are doing, it doesn't have to be dangerous.
