Enrico Caruso was a famous tenor who courted the media and became famous for his extravagant lifestyle. His voice was untutored, shrill and as there are so few of his recordings, we will never know how he sounded in the early years.

Giacomo ( Jaume) Aragall was acknowledged by another famous tenor of his era( Pavarotti) to have been the best. Carreras famously added that if Aragall had made more recordings, they ( The Three Tenors) would be in the second division. Domingo describes his voice as the most beautiful. To be acknowledged such must make him the the finest tenor of the 20th century.
