Does a black walnut tree have pods?

Sort of. Black walnuts produce large, dark brown nuts that are covered by thick green flesh. The flesh turns brown and rots away over time, revealing the nut inside. The brown flesh is often used as a dye. The green fruits DO look like pods though.
