How do inch worms eat?

Nothing in nature is really "bad" since everything serves a particular purpose. While inch worms are sometimes annoying because they eat leaves and they ultimately turn into moths, science teachers find them very useful as an educational tool; kids find it fascinating to watch them build their cocoons, for example.
