Stibine (SbH3) is the most toxic compund of Antimony formula: SbH3. It is regularly vented from charging lead acid/VRLA batteries and emmitted in greater quatities durring battery failures. It has a fowle, sharp odor likened to H2S. Sense of smell is not a reliable detection method because of the deadening potential of SbH3 and other accompanying chemicles. Most Stibine posionings are accompanied by other toxic chemicles like Arsine, Lead, H2S ect that work through the same mechanisim causing greater harm. SbH3 attacks and destroys blood cells:causing widespread hemolyctic and central nervous system damge. Early symptoms can include: headache, weakness, confusion, Malise, nausea, abdominal pain, lumbar pain, jaundice, lung irritation, shortness of breath, shallow breathing, congestion, agitation, anger & inability to escape danger. poisoning typicaly includes symptoms of shock.
