VHS SLP mode refers to the speed of which the VHS is recorded and played back. SLP is also known as EP mode and is an acronym for Super Long Play or Extended Play. Other speeds include SP (Standard Play) and LP (Long Play). SLP is 1/3 of the speed of SP and 1/2 of the speed of LP. The slower speed of this mode means the quality of the recording isn't as high. It is only used in NTSC video regions such as the US.
