A greyhound, which can run almost 45 miles per hour for a limited time, can cover about 14 standard greyhound lengths in one second, or about .07 seconds per length. A standard greyhound length is considered to be right at four feet in length.

The better greyhounds will cover 5/16th of a mile (550 yards, 1650 feet) in about 30 seconds, or about 55 feet per second. This would correlate to the average greyhound span of a bit under four feet from nose to rump.
