What are the examples of pest and their characteristics?

A pest is usually an insect, which does things that we usually view as being a nusiance, irritating, destructive, unwanted, etc. For example, a termite would be considered to be a pest due to its destructive nature in eating through wood; ants would also be pests since they frequently eat plants in our gardens. In another context, people may consider another person to be a pest if that person is constantly annoying them, etc.
