How do you replace the alternator in a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora 3.5L?

This is not a simple repair, however it just takes time. You need to remove the cross member covering the radiator and then remove the radiator cooling fans. There is a retaining clip on the passenger side near the bottom that must be removed to free one of the transmission cooling lines (I believe).

The instructions say you need to remove the AC compressor - however I was able to remove the alternator without doing this. It is a VERY tight fit but it is possible.

Probably took about 4 hours to do the whole thing. The GM service guide was a help.
