Just try your best....
AnswerReally, all you need to navigate any dungeon is a well-rounded team, some useful items and perseverance. There are only 25 floos in Pitfall Valley, so it shouldn't be much of a challenge. If you are going after Latias, don't think that you have to prepare for a fight at the end - Latias is not like LatiOS, she will come with you willingly and will even join your team if you have the Friend Area already.Let's walk through the whole dungeon and I'll give some tips.
Firstly, you need to compile your team. Over the 25 floors, there are 15 different species of Pokemon. All of them are either Bug, Flying, Normal or Grass-types:
Pidgeot (Normal/Flying)
Farfetch'd (Normal/Flying)
Ledyba (Bug/Flying)
Swellow (Normal/Flying)
Butterfree (Bug/Flying)
Raticate (Normal)
Spearow (Normal/Flying)
Hoppip (Grass/Flying)
Doduo (Normal/Flying)
Swablu (Normal/Flying)
Yanma (Bug/Flying)
Masqueran (Bug/Flying)
Scyther (Bug/Flying)
Aerodactyl (Rock/Flying)
Skiploom (Bug/Flying)
This is the perfect dungeon to test your Fire or Electric-type Pokemon. Of course, you may want to take along a backup Pokemon, but any team should be able to handle the Pokemon in this dungeon. It goes without saying that you will need all of your team Pokemon to be at a decent level. Between levels 60 and 70 should be fine.
The items you will need come from the normal array that you would carry into any dungeon. You will probably need food items (for your leader's belly), some recovery and/or status-affecting items, perhaps an orb or two and maybe some berries for your HP. Nothing overly special is needed for Pitfall Valley.
Persistance pays off in any Pokemon game. If you find your team fainting in this dungeon, the best thing to do would be to train them some more, or find where you got stuck and figure out where you went wrong (somtimes requiring a change of teeam members). Take note that sometimes items can help immensly. Don't underestimate the power of a Foe-Fear Orb in a room of Monster House Pokemon.
In essesnce, Pitfall Valley is like any other Pokemon dungeon in the game. It is just on a higher level than the ones before it, requiring your team to have stepped up a level, too. Persistance, a good inventory and a solid team will help you come out on top in any dungeon situation.
