Why do butterflies lay eggs on specific plants?

Butterflies select certain plant to lay their eggs on because that's the food their baby caterpillar will need. Therefore as soon as the egg hatches, the caterpillar is ready to go! If you have any other butterfly questions, e-mail them to to me @ liviebug97@Yahoo.com
