What is saung?

A saung, also known as a saung gauk, is a traditional Burmese harp, recognized for its unique, curved shape and melodic sound. It is an essential instrument in Burmese Classical Music and often accompanies vocal performances and traditional dance. Made from wood and decorated with intricate designs, the saung typically features 13 to 21 strings, which are plucked to produce its distinctive tones.
