When the timing belt goes on a Saturn LW2 you will experience catastrophic failure of the engine. What this means is you are looking at the purchase of a entirely new engine. This happened to me at 98,000 miles just prior to the service check that would have replaced my timing belt. I was told by the Saturn dealership that the reason the belt gave way so early was because there was a leak in the water pump which compromised the integrity of the timing belt and the reason this was not spotted at our "every 3,000" check up was that it was in an area that was hard to inspect. $5000 later up and running.
