RU-486 - Mifeprex (The Abortion Pill)

Vacuum Aspiration

In this first trimester procedure, the doctor numbs the cervix and slowly dilate it to the size of a straw and then gently suck the embryo out. The noise of the machine makes it sound rough but no one can roughly suck anything out of a uterus without hurting the woman.

Dilation and Suction Curettage (D&C) can be done if the uterus failed to expell the embryo.

This is similar to the vacuum aspiration but a curette is used to scrape the walls of the uterus.
