There are several drugs available to treat the symptoms of a herpes outbreak. There is no cure.

Zovirax (generic is acyclovir)

Valtrex (generic is valacyclovir)

Famvir

These may be taken at the first signs of a herpes outbreak to shorten the length of symptoms or, if taken early enough, prevent the blisters from forming.

I don't know much about Famvir.

Acyclovir and valacyclovir can also be taken prophylactically to prevent outbreaks and reduce the occurrence of asymptomatic viral shedding which can reduce the chances of passing the virus on to a partner. They may also be prescribed for treatment of herpes simplex I (cold sores) and herpes zoster (shingles).

Just to let you know that Generic acyclovir is available for $4 for a months supply at several pharamcy chains. You can search the list at ezmedicalinfo.com
