What are the requirements do one need to joing the Jamaica army?

Jamaica's military is organised as a single defence force - there is no separate army, navy, air force, etc.

That being said, the prerequisites listed by the Jamaica Defence Force are as follows:

• Citizen of Jamaica
• 17 to 23 years of age (17 years old requires parental consent
• Medically fit by JDF standard
• Minimum height of 170 centimetres (5 ft., 7 in.)
• May be rendered ineligible for service by prior criminal convictions

Educational standards for enlisted personnel are Grade 9 Standard, and for commissioned officers, two GCE 'A' level and five CAPE or GCE 'O' level subjects, including Mathematics and English Languag.

Additionally, applicants for a commission must pass the Officer Selection Board.
