You have to make sure there are no imperfections in the clear coat. If so they need to be taken out with a fine grit wet paper like 1500 or 2000.

A good BUFFING COMPOUND not rubbing compound is used VERY CAREFULLY in small areas at a time until the desired gloss is achieved. BE CAREFUL,,,if you stay in one spot too long or put too much pressure on it, you will burn through the paint.
