Do a lot of turtle eggs not hatch?

When it comes to sea turtles, many eggs are left on the shore. so a lot of them do hatch, but then a large amount of the baby turtles are brutally killed and eaten by vicious predators before reaching the safety of the water. That's the circle of life for you.
