There is no normal day in the life of a tattoo artist, to begin. The tasks of a day for a tattoo artist range from consultations with new clients, setting-up appointments and maintaining a schedule that usually averages 6-15 people a week. Tattooing is a major process a majority of people over look. When a Tattoo takes place the artist has to set-up his/her work station first. setting up a work station for a tattoo has to be equally as sanitary as when you go to the doctors, so the artist has to have all surfaces coming in contact with the client wrapped with plastic. After that process is done what I usually go for next is setting up my work palette, this is the area which I will have my inks caps, wash cup, ointment, squeeze bottle(has to be covered by plastic). I will use all of these tools throughout the tattoo to make the process smoother. The next step would be to set up your machines, this is an art in its self. When a tattoo machine is set up you take the needle and tube out of the sterilization package bend the needle in the appropriate places, then put the needle in the tube so that the needle rides the bottom of the tube, this allows for the ink to flow nicely on the needle into the skin and also allowing the artist to know exactly where those needles are at all times. After you have completed setting up your work station and everything is wrapped up nice, you know have to prep your canvas of skin you'll be working on that session. To prep the skin for a tattoo I usually clean the surface, then shave the area. ounce you have a nice clean canvas you may either apply the stencil you have made or do your necessary drawing on the skin with marker. This may seem like a lot but this is only the beginning now the tattooing starts. When tattooing the artist has to make sure they work from bottom of the image and progress upward. While tattooing the artist must also stretch the skin of the area he/she is tattooing to insure the needle is going smoothly in and out of the skin. Speaking for myself, I on average tattoo 4 hrs a session. After the Tattooing is done you must clean your client's skin, take necessary photos. Bandage their fresh new ink, explain aftercare to them, Collect payment. All of this is just the tip of the sWord of Tattoo Artist.Besides Tattooing we have to take care of marketing, Digital editing of professional photos we take, and keeping supply in stock.I am sure I left out a couple of this so if anyone has anymore questions please email me at Alex_Ansel_Art@Yahoo.com
