What are the signs of farrowing?

Signs of farrowing, or the process of a sow giving birth, typically include restlessness or nesting behavior, increased vocalization, and a drop in body temperature about 24 hours prior to delivery. Sows may also display a swollen vulva and increased activity as they prepare their environment for the piglets. Additionally, milk may begin to leak from the teats as part of the pre-farrowing process. Observing these signs helps farmers prepare for the arrival of the piglets.
