Why does Beth Chapman always wear fake nails?

Beth Chapman (Dog the Bounty Hunter) is known for wearing fake nails. It's sort of her "trademark." It shows her sassy personality as well as her girly/feminine side. In previous episodes of the shows, the nails were actually helpful. One case was she went into a nail salon looking for a fugitive and she fit in... her cover wasn't blown.
