When did the dollar tree store start?

Dollar Tree was founded in 1986 by Doug Perry, originally operating under the name "Only One Dollar." The first store opened in Norfolk, Virginia, and the concept was to sell all items for just one dollar. Over the years, the company expanded significantly, becoming a popular discount retail chain across the United States and Canada. In 1991, it officially adopted the name Dollar Tree.
