1908
Actually contrary to popular culture Henry Ford did NOT invent the first car. Henry Ford brought assembly line manufacturing to automobile manufacturing, which prior to this marriage, auto's were all built one at a time, by hand. Correction, Ford improved on the assembly line that was already in use by Ransom E Olds mass producing his Curved Dash Oldsmobile from 1901-1907.
Steam powered cars were being sold and driven as early as 1769, long before Henry ford was even born. Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz, both had gasoline powered cars on the road before Henry Ford was born. Ford didn't even have the first gasoline cars in the United States. Several car makers existed and built such cars before Henry Ford got into the business. Such as Chevrolet(pre general motors), Cadillac(also pre general motors), and a few others that have long since become defunct.
The short answer is, the question is invalid as Henry Ford did not invent the car in any way shape or form, he merely brought two existing technologies together, to make the car affordable to the majority of the population, instead of just being playthings for the super rich.
Of course part of my statement above is a bit incorrect, as the first gasoline cars weren't ran on gasoline(although they would run on it), most fuel was Ethyl Alcohol. However Gasoline won out because it was cheaper.
