How do you change the batteries on Thermoscan Plus?

Hit the God damned thing with a hammer. Too frustrating.

I felt this way too, but then discovered the solution...Simply press the small recessed button directly above the battery door with something slender like a ballpoint pen or a toothpick, while pushing the battery door down, away from the thermometer. (I used a thumbtack.)
