How do you remove pine tree pitch from hot tub lids?

believe it or not Olive oil (or any kind of oil really) dissolves pine tar nicely. It may take a little elbow grease depending on the amount on the lid. Some dish soap and water will then wash the oil off without a problem. If you don't care so much about fumes- Lacquer thinner will work too.
