Snapping turtles travel in the spring and early summer primarily to find suitable nesting sites and to seek out new habitats as they emerge from hibernation. During this period, females often cross land to lay eggs in sandy or soft soils, while males may roam in search of food or mates. The warmer temperatures and increased activity of other wildlife also prompt these movements, facilitating their search for resources and breeding opportunities.
