Firstly they normally feed on people when they are asleep. Their fangs are razor sharp and they make a few light incisions on the skin and begin to lap the blood with their tongue; they do not stick their fangs into you like a vampire in a Horror movie.
Their saliva has an anticoagulant in it which allows the blood to flow without clotting.
At most they will drain a few milliliters out of a victim, not pints as they do in the movies.
They also feed on larger mammals such as cows and goats.
