Why space is not used in between website name?

The reason white spaces are not placed in URLs in because white space is not recongised by some servers and search engines. When they come across these URLs they of replace your space with a code equalivalant '%20'. Of course this can create problems by making the URL less readable and identify the two URLs as sperate pages.
