Seaman, the dog belonging to the Lewis and Clark expedition, is believed to have lived for about 10 years. He was a Newfoundland breed and accompanied Meriwether Lewis and William Clark on their journey from 1804 to 1806. Though specific records of his lifespan are sparse, it is generally accepted that he was born in the late 1790s and lived through the expedition.
