How do you know pig leather?

Pig leather is often much softer than leather from other animals but it is now being used in furniture production. With the naked eye the leather may not be distinguishable from any other leather if a top coating has been applied but with a microscope the arrangement of the hair follicles is very distinctive and so can be recognised.
