Cash, in the form of coins, was first introduced around 600 BC in Lydia, an ancient kingdom in what is now Turkey. These coins were made of electrum, a naturally occurring alloy of gold and silver. Paper money later emerged in China during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), gaining prominence in the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD). This evolution marked significant milestones in the development of cash as a medium of exchange.
